The Knights of Contracting
Leaders in Utility Contracting Convene for a NUCA Round Table
By Jason Morgan
Valiant contractors don’t solve problems in a shining suit of armor, armed with a lance and the steel courage to overcome adversity. They don hard hats and shovel, ride an iron horse — be it a loader backhoe, hydraulic excavator or ride-on trencher — and arm themselves with the proper knowledge of utility contracting (probably something they’ve learned from associations like NUCA).
The principles of professional utility construction only strengthen the bond between contractor and owner and that’s something NUCA preaches — building a code of training, safety and business professionalism for every utility crew, utility owner and manufacturer of utility equipment. To this honorable end, Utility Contractor has held an industry round table discussion for the past three years. This year, word was sent to six nobles in the utility construction industry (we’ll call them knights as an honorable title), who traveled to Utility Construction EXPO in Hawaii to sit down to discuss the trials and tribulations of utility work.
